Using blackjack basic strategy responsibly

What is basic strategy?

Basic strategy is a set of rules that tells you the optimal decision for every possible blackjack hand, based on your cards and the dealer's visible card. It was developed through computer simulations of millions of hands and represents the mathematically best way to play when you do not count cards.

Following basic strategy reduces the house edge to roughly 0.5%, making blackjack one of the more favourable casino games for the player. Without basic strategy, the average player faces a house edge of 2-5%.

How to use this tool

Step 1: Look at the two cards the dealer has given you. Tap each card in the tool to enter them.

Step 2: Look at the dealer's face-up card. Tap it in the tool.

Step 3: The tool instantly shows your best move: hit, stand, double down, or split. If the advice is to hit and you take a card, tap the new card to update the recommendation for your new total.

Understanding the expected values

Below each recommendation, the tool shows expected values for the available options. These represent how much you can expect to win or lose per unit bet over many hands.

The best option is not always profitable. In many situations, all options lose money, and basic strategy helps you choose the one that loses the least.

What this tool does not do

This tool does not count cards, predict specific outcomes, or guarantee wins. It shows the statistically optimal decision based on the cards currently visible.

Blackjack remains a casino game with a built-in house edge. Basic strategy minimises that edge but does not eliminate it. Always gamble responsibly and within your means.
